My First Fashion Magazine Feature as a Photographer
I still can't believe I get to write this ... but I was published in a fashion magazine for the first time! I found out about this a week ago, and I'm still having a "pinch me" moment every time I think about it. My work actually made it into a real, glossy, printed magazine. And not just anywhere, I'm on page three of LYBELL Magazine. This is a huge milestone for any photographer who's been looking to get published, and I'm beyond excited to share how this opportunity came to be.
So, How Did This Even Happen?
Here's the deal. I didn't just wake up one morning and find my photos in a magazine. Nope. It was a mix of showing up, creating work I love, and honestly, putting myself out there, even when I felt a little unsure about myself.
I submitted a set of images from a photoshoot the magazine had reached out about, crossed my fingers, and waited. A few weeks later, I got the email that made me do a full-on excited scream. They wanted to feature my work!
I immediately ran to my husband and told him the news. Then, I called my parents. I even wished I had a dog to share the news and excitement with, LOL!
And here it is, my feature in LYBELL Magazine!
Why Being Published in a Photography Magazine Means So Much
Being featured isn't just a checkmark on my photography to-do list. It's been something that I've wanted for years. It's one of these little "keep going" moments that reminds me why I love what I do. It's proof that your creative vision matters, and that someone out there sees it, and it speaks to them.
Honestly, this win isn't just about me. It's about you, the people I get to work with. Every session I shoot is a blend of your energy and my creative eye. Your willingness to show up, laugh, trust the process, and most importantly, be yourself. That's what makes this kind of special thing happen.
So if you've ever stepped in front of my camera, just know this: you're part of this moment too! These magazine features exist because of people like you who believe in what we're creating together.
This feature means a lot to me, but more than anything, it means the work I get to do with you is worth celebrating. And I'm so dang proud of that.
You're Closer Than You Think
Honestly, if I can do this, you can do amazing things too. You don’t have to wait until you feel “ready.” Let’s be real, that feeling might never show up. Do it anyway.
I’ve been told no so many times before. I’ve submitted work and never heard back, or got lots of rejection letters. I’ve second-guessed myself more times than I can count. But I kept showing up, even when it was hard. I kept creating. And this time, the answer was yes.
Submit your work. Share your art. Show up and be consistent. Take chances. It can be scary, but it’s so worth it. The doors you want to open don’t just magically appear, you have to knock (sometimes more than once).
